SCREEN VERSION OF LITERARY WORKS OF HRYHORII KVITKA-OSNOVIANENKO IN THE CONTEXT OF THE SOVIET FOLKLORE CINEMA

Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the screen version of works of a classic of Ukrainian literature Hryhorii Kvitka-Osnovianenko (1778–1843). Historiography of the problem is analysed in the publication; in a chronological order, there are considered stories of creation of films «Matchmaking in Honcharivka» (dir. I. Zemhalo), «Shelmenko-Batman» (dir. A. Tutyshkin), and «Witch» (dir. H. Shyhaieva); the artistic features of films are determined; their value for the development of the Soviet folklore and Ukrainian poetic cinema is found out. It is substantiated that films of A. Tutyshkin and I. Zemhalo made in Soviet time became one of the first artistic projects, where is observed an attempt of their creators to diverge from routine imposed by the method of social realism and create a film, in which some national traits would appear.
