Seed Quality of Coriander as Affected by Irrigation and Fertilizer Levels

Abstract

The experiment conducted during 2014-15 comprised of four irrigation schedules, i.e., I1 (25 and 50 DAS), I2 (25, 50 and 75 DAS), I3 (25, 75 and 100 DAS) and I4 (25, 50, 75 and 100 DAS) and three fertilizer levels, i.e., F1 (N45 and P37.5 kg/ha), F2 (N60 and P50 kg/ha) and F3 (N75 and P62.5 kg/ha). The quality of coriander seeds harvested from various irrigation and fertilizer treatments was evaluated in Seed Testing Laboratory. The results revealed that seed produced under I4 (25, 50, 75 and 100 DAS) irrigation schedule and F2 (N60 and P50 kg/ha) fertilizer level gave the best quality seeds with higher 1000 seed weight (g), standard germination (%), seedling length (cm), seedling dry weight (mg), seedling vigour index-I, seedling vigour index-II and seed density (g/cc) as compared to other irrigation and fertilizer treatments but with minimum electrical conductivity values.
