Self Concept of the Family with Mental Disorder Member and Restrain History in Blitar Town

Abstract

In Indonesia, there was 20.000 to 30.000 people with mental disorder which restrained. There was 14,3% family or about 237 from 1655 families had a member with heavy mental disorder restrained. The purpose of the research was to identify self concept of the family with mental disor- der member with restrained history. The population in this research was 30 families which had member with mental disorder restrained history in Blitar town. The sample size in this research was 30 people taken by using total sampling. The data collection was conducted by questionnaire. The data collection was done on 28 march - 10 may 2016. The result of the research showed that 73,1% (19 families) had positive self concept, then 26,9% (7 families) had negative self concept. The rec- ommendation of this research was it should get specific attention from health employees to give motivation, guidance, and give health education to the family with mental disorder member and restrained history to keep or increase positive self concept and change the negative self concept be positive especially in role component and personal identity.
