Silent Struggles: Exploring the Effects of Anxiety and Depression on Higher Level Students

Abstract

The purpose of the current study was to explore the effects of anxiety and depression on higher level students. The research was descriptive in nature, and to achieve the objectives of the study, a sample of three thousand four hundred and eighty higher level students was selected using stratified sampling technique. The data analysis statistics included both descriptive and inferential analysis. The findings reveal that anxiety and depression have a significant effect on university students, leading to poor academic performance. Moreover, males face higher levels of anxiety and depression as compared to females. This study recommends that teachers and parents should try to identify or understand if their child is going through any sort of mental discord. Teachers should act as role models for students to promote the importance of a content and calm mind and explain to them the importance of mental health.
