Simulation by Geant4 of hadrontherapy beam line
Journal Title: Cumhuriyet Science journal - Year 2018, Vol 39, Issue 1
Abstract
Hadrontherapy represents a pioneer technique, and only few centers worldwide can provide this advanced and specialized cancer treatment. Geant4 (GEometry ANd Tracking 4) is a C++, free and open toolkit that used to simulate the interaction of particles in matter. It is employed in various fields from high-energy physics, nuclear physics to medicine. By means of Monte Carlo simulation tool Geant4, we have simulated the hadrontherapy beam line typical of a proton-therapy line modeled in the category of the advanced examples with all its elements: the diffusers, range shifters, collimators and detectors. This Simulation has permited the calculation of dose and Linear Energy Transfer (LET). In this context, this study reports the first results of our simulation realized by means of Geant4 10.2 version and their comparizon with those obteined by Cironne.

Influence of Some Cladonia Lichens on Plant Pathogenic Bacteria and Copper Reducing Antioxidant Capacity Activities
Microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi lead many diseases in plants. A great deal of pathogenic microorganisms has gained resistance against frequently utilized antibiotics and synthetic fungicides. Lichens are symbio...
The Effect of Semi-Circular Protrusions on Cylinder to Flow Structure
In this study; two dimensional, viscous, incompressible, fully developed and turbulent flows on the surface of the cylinder placed in a channel were analyzed using numerical methods. Momentum and continuity equations wer...
A New Approach To Chip Breaking Application In Turning Operation Using Variable Feed Rates
In machining operations, especially turning operations, there are many factors that determine process efficiency and product quality. Factors such as cutting forces, cutting zone temperatures, tool wear, chip morphology...
Investigation on Li (i = l, β, and γ)–to-Lα X-ray Intensity Ratios of Tl in Thallium Compounds
The Li(i = l, β, and γ)–to-Lα X-ray intensity ratios of Tl in some thallium compounds were measured by EDXRF spectrometer. These compounds were excited by 59.5 keV gamma-rays from a 241Am annular radioactive source. L X-...
Linear And Nonlinear Intersubband Optical Absorptions In Multiple Quantum Wells Under The External Fields
In this study, the effects of the external fields (electric and tilted magnetic fields) and well parameters on the optical absorption coefficients in GaAs/GaAlAs multiple (five) quantum wells under the applied electric a...
