Simulation of chaotic phenomena in infocommunication networks: a synergetic approach

Abstract

In numerous papers devoted to the study of network traffic, it was shown that high-speed networks may experience chaotic modes, the main cause of which is protocol behavior TCP. Presents such regimes leads to a significant reduction in bandwidth across the network, especially in the so-called "Bottlenecks". However, until now have not been offered a model that adequately describe information and communication systems and allow to use the entire arsenal of the classical methods of analysis for nonlinear dynamical systems. This paper proposes a new approach to the analysis of communication systems with the TCP protocol - considering them as nonlinear dynamical systems that exhibit chaotic properties at certain values of the parameters. The phase portraits of the systems studied, calculated values of the maximum Lyapunov exponent for different values of the basic parameters of the systems.
