Simulator for Software Project Reliability Estimation

Journal Title: International Journal on Computer Science and Engineering - Year 2011, Vol 3, Issue 7

Abstract

Several models are there for software development processes, each describing approaches to a variety of tasks or activities that take place during the process. Without project management, software projects can easily be delivered late or over budget. With large numbers of software projects not meeting their expectations in terms of functionality, cost, or delivery schedule, effective project management appears to be lacking.IEEE defines reliability as “the ability of a system to perform its required function under stated conditions for a specified period of time. To most software project managers, reliability is equated to correctness that is number of bugs found and fixed. The purpose is to develop a simulator for estimating the reliability of the software project using PERT approach keeping in view the criticality index of each task.
