slugAnalysis of Lung cancer images using Neural Networks

Abstract

Among all the cancer types, lung cancer has been proved to be the dangerous one. It is because of the absence of symptoms even in the advanced stages of the disease. And the symptoms start appearing in the final stages of the cancer, thus making it hard to treat. In this paper, lung cancer detection by both visual means and neural networks are proposed. The X-ray images of Chest AP(Anterior Posterior) are analyzed using various image processing techniques for enhancement and edge detection. With the data set acquired, neural network architecture is created and trainedfor detecting whether the abnormality is benign or malignant.
