Abstract
A strong, healthy and sustainable banking system is very essential for the overall development of an economy and failure of which may lead to collapse of the economy as a whole. The banking scenario in the country in the post liberalization and deregulated environment has witnessed sweeping changes. One of the hallmark features of this transformation has been the immense competition that has pervaded the sector. In the present day competitive regime, “TIME” is of essence and in this era of rapid technological obsolescence, an opportunity lost today is an opportunity lost forever.
