Small Signal Stability Investigation of SMIB System Using Variable Structure Control
Journal Title: International Journal of Advanced Research in Computer Engineering & Technology(IJARCET) - Year 2012, Vol 1, Issue 8
Abstract
This paper aims at investigation of small signal stability for a synchronous machine connected to the infinite bus system by variable structure control. Power systems inherently being non linear, so first the linearized model of the dynamic system is obtained and then the procedure for designing a variable structure controller is explained. The robustness and effectiveness of the designed controller is verified by the change in the operating points. The results of the simulation shows that the proposed controller has significantly improved the power system stability.
