SOCIAL STRATIFICATION AND MODERNIZATION OF THE ECONOMY

Abstract
In the paper the role of social stratification in economic modernization provision is determined. The basic approaches to social stratification are defined – by the income level, by the level of qualification and education, by the aims of activity. The correlation analysis of the link between the inequality of income distribution and the rates of growth of real GDP shows that the link is weak but positive. The correlation between Gini’s coefficient and the share of R&D expenditures in GDP is also weak, but negative
