SOCIO-POLITICAL TRANSFORMATIONS IN LATVIA IN THE 1985-1991s
Journal Title: Вісник Львівського університету - Year 2018, Vol 17, Issue
Abstract
The article deals with socio-political transformations in Latvia in the 1985–1991s. That time has become a period of common-political rebirth and opened the possibilities for liberal reforms. In addition to the establishment of a nationwide democratic motion, political unions of the pro-Soviet view were also formed in Latvia. New socio-political conditions and the ability to self-organize allowed the Latvians to effectively oppose the Soviet government on the way to the restor ation of independence.
