SOCIOCULTURAL COMPONENT OF LIVING CONDITION OF THE POPULATION IN BIG CITIES OF UKRAINE

Abstract

This article tells about one of the new areas of social geography, namely the study of «life categories». As the subject field are considered living conditions, and given the current relevance of the study of growth poles of the country, are the subject of the big cities of Ukraine (over 100 thousand inhabitants). The paper analyzes the sociocultural component, as one of the key components of the living conditions of the population. Resarch based on the integral evaluation (objectively-subjective research) to calculate an index of favorable sociосultural development. The objective side of sociocultural component represented by 14 statistical indicators. The subjective aspect of socio-cultural component includes the development of questionnaire and the mass survey of senior students (375 questionnaire) of geography faculties of higher educational institutions of Ukraine. It was established that the level of socio-cultural development of favorable conditions of big cities grows from the East to the Centre and from the Center to the West Ukraine. Found that the size of the city and its population size is not crucial for the socio-cultural component.
