Socioeconomic factors associated with iron deficiency anemia in children under 5 years of age

Abstract

Introduction: Childhood represents one of the stages with the highest vulnerability index in regards to health issues; Therefore, they are more likely to develop life-threatening diseases such as iron deficiency anemia. Objective: To determine the validity, relevance and reliability of the instrument, identify eating habits in children under 5 years of age with iron deficiency anemia and interpret the relationship between socioeconomic factors and lack of knowledge of iron deficiency anemia in parents/caregivers. Materials and methods:Quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive research, the instrument was designed for research based on the objectives and theoretical content, it is validated by expert judgment and confirmed by Cronbach's alpha; a pilot plan is being worked on with 15 mothers of children under 5 years of age. Results:The quantitative instrument has a reliability of 0.87, which shows that the measurement instrument shows an ideal reliability index. Conclusion: The lack of measurement instruments complicates the investigative process, so that, with the validation, the scientific criterion of the data is extended, the instrument was approved for its validity, relevance and reliability; that is, it is apt to be applied to future research related to the subjectin question
