SODIUM CAPRYLAMPHOPROPIONATE AS EFFECTIVE ADDITIVE AFFECTING LUBRICATING PROPERTIES OF WATER

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2010, Vol 234, Issue 6

Abstract

The subject matter of this paper is a continuation of research on water and surface active agents as lubricants. It is assumed that data obtained shall be used to develop working fluid formulations. The additive chosen, sodium caprylamphopropionate (acronym: CyNa), is an amphoteric surfactant. The seizure properties of water based solutions of CyNa were determined by the four-ball tester (T-02). Scuffing load (Pt), seizure load (Poz) and limiting pressure of seizure (poz) were determined.
