Solid phase extraction of pesticide residues in water samples:DDT and its metabolites
Journal Title: International Journal of Environmental Research - Year 2008, Vol 2, Issue 1
Abstract
Solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridge embedded with octadecyl C18 chain bounded to silica particles were used for the isolation and trace enrichment of pesticides from water samples collected from cotton, rice growing and municipal areas. The eluents were analyzed with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using methanol (100%) as mobiles phase at different UV-Visible wavelengths. DDT and its metabolites were found in all areas but were not present in all samples. Concentration of pesticide residues varies from sample to sample and was in the range of 0.017-1.06 ng ml-1. Overall, recoveries ranged from 84%-91% for all target pesticides.

Mercury Bioaccumulation in Some Commercially Valuable Marine Organisms from Mosa Bay, Persian Gulf
This study was undertaken to determine the concentration of mercury in edible muscle of five commercially valuable marine organisms from Mosa Bay, Persian Gulf, Iran. The total mercury concentrations were determined by...
Adsorption of Heavy Metals by Salvinia Biomass and Agricultural Residues
Batch adsorption experiments were performed to study adsorption potential of agricultural residues viz. rice straw, wheat straw and Salvinia plant biomass for removal of heavy metals such as Cr, Ni, and Cd. Plant materia...
Prediction of MSW Long-term Settlement Induced by Mechanical and Decomposition-Based Compressions
Long-term settlement of MSW landfills is a complex process, which is explained by the following two mechanisms: (1) the mechanical long-term compression of degradable organic solids (DOS) and un-degradable organic solids...
