SOME ASPECTS OF TEACHING FOREIGN SPEAKING

Abstract
The article deals with the issue of teaching a foreign language, speaking in particular. Analyzed are some aspects of communicative language teaching that makes use of real-life situations necessitating communication which is considered in western experts’ and practitioners’ works. This article looks at how the notion of a gap between speakers can be used to provide a reason for communication. Finding ways to create gaps between students, gaps which need closing, creates speaking opportunities and prompts the creation of new activities. Described are some problems teachers have with monitoring and some possible solutions and also the practicalities of developing an effective procedure for monitoring.
