SOME POLICIES AND PRACTICES AIMED AT CHILDREN WITH A BACKGROUND OF MIGRATION IN EARLY-YEARS SETTINGS IN MUNICH

Abstract
This paper presents some policies and practices in the field of social, educational and language support for children with a background of migration in early-years settings in Munich, Germany. The paper describes the content and the application of the screening tool used for assessment of the migrant children’s level of German language prior to school entry, as well as the important role of the Intercultural Education and Language Section of the City of Munich in supporting children from families with a background of migration.
