Some results of the evaluation of the work of the pathology departments of the newborns in the Northwestern Federal District

Abstract
The article is devoted to the evaluation of the work of the neonatal pathology departments in the Northwestern Federal District. To achieve this goal, we analyzed the mortality rates of newborns weighing 1000 grams or more and weighing 500–999 grams, as well as the survival rates of children with extremely low birth weight. In the course of the study, official statistical reports and publications of the Rosstat and the Central Scientific Research Institute for the Organization and Informatization of Health Care of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for 2010–2016 were studied. Analysis of the frequency of deaths in the pathology departments of newborns weighing 1000 grams or more, as well as with a body weight of 500–999 grams showed that these indicators in the Northwestern Federal District in 2016 are higher than those in Russia as a whole. The survival rate of children with extremely low birth weight of the total number of children born with a body weight of 500–999 grams in the Northwestern Federal District exceeds the figure for Russia as a whole by 48.3%, and in St. Petersburg — by 124 3%.
