SPACE PLANNING AS INTEGRATION INSTRUMENT BETWEEN PORT AND PORT TOWN'S DEVELOPMENT DURING THE POLITICAL SYSTEM TRANSFORMATIONS (Gdansk agglomaration as example)

Abstract

Necessity of ports' adaptation to the market economy conditions, followed by necessity of fulfilling several requirements in the end of XX century, along with wilder range of port towns self-governmentall those factors force undertaking of activities integrating ports with their towns and regions. The paper specifies areas of co-operation between port and port's town and presents particular examples of activities in respect to space planning which have been lately initiated in Gdansk agglomeration - resulted in developing common planning documents.
