SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE OF POLICE OFFICERS

Abstract

The interpretation of the communicative concepts and professional competence is analyzed in the article. Thus, in Ukrainian science the most common is a definition of competence as a set of knowledge and skills necessary for effective professional activity: the ability to analyze, to anticipate the consequences of professional activity, and to use information. In addition to communicative competence, modern linguistic science defines a concept of professional competence. These definitions are closely interrelated. Representatives of different scientific approaches give different interpretations of professional competence concept. Most researchers believe that professional competence includes such personal qualities as initiative, responsibility, industriousness, sense of purpose, and self-confidence. Communicative activity of police officers is a complex and multifaceted activity to establish and develop contacts with representatives of various age, professional, cultural, and ethnic groups as well as individuals whose mental state is unpredictable. Therefore, the main components of the mentioned competencies are defined in the article. The specifics of the communicative skills of the National Police of Ukraine employees subject to the present time requirements are considered Particular attention is paid to the ability to deliberately control verbal and non-verbal expression of emotions, to conduct constructive dialogue and negotiations with crime figures. It is proved that communicative competence acts as a structural phenomenon and contains such components as values, motives, attitudes, social and psychological stereotypes, knowledge, skills.
