Abstract
The legal nature of the principles of the states’ territorial integrity and the right to self-determination of peoples analyzed in the article. The author analyzes the correlation of these two fundamental principles of international law in the modern Ukrainian reality – military events in the east of Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation. Using arguments, the author explain why in Ukrainian case the realization of the right to self-determination of the people is not reasonably applicable and contradicts the territorial integrity of the state.
