Specyfika rozpoznawania stanu zagrożenia życia u pacjenta geriatrycznego
Journal Title: Na Ratunek - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 5
Abstract
Diagnosing of life-threatening conditions in elderly patients is fraught with many difficulties. They mainly concern the speed of the diagnostic process and the implementation of rapid emergency procedures. In a geriatric patient, a lifethreatening condition may be present in the course of chronic diseases. It should be borne in mind that both the course of geriatric illnesses itself and the symptoms of life-threatening conditions may be non-specific in the elderly. Only a holistic and individual approach to a patient will foster the rapid diagnosis and implementation of effective treatment. Gathering of reliable data, good knowledge of life-threatening geriatric conditions, accurate analysis of symptoms and the speed of action largely determine the accuracy of the diagnosis and effectiveness of the treatment, often protecting the elderly from loss of health and even life.
