Journal Title: Revista MVZ Cordoba - Year 2004, Vol 9, Issue 1

Abstract

In the Center of Investigation «Turipaná,» of the Colombian Corporation of Agricultural Investigation (CORPOICA), located to the north from Colombia; 8º31' north latitude and 75º49' west latitude. The variables spermatic in Costeño with Cuernos bulls (CCC) and Romosinuano bulls (RS) were studied. As evaluation criteria, motility (MOT), progressive rapid individual (MPIR), Motility individual slowly progressive slow (MPIL), spermatic concentration (CON), primary abnormalities (AT) and percentage of acrosamic reaction induction (RA) were studied. The experimental period was from 75 days during the which carried out them to the bulls, every 15 days physical exam, rectal exam, seminal evaluation and it taste induction of the acrosome reaction in vitro with heparin to a fraction of the semen. The variables of the spermatic of the semen of CCC bulls and RS respectively were: motility (MOT) 67% and 68%; motility progressive rapid singular (MPIR) 49% and 50%; motility progressive slow singular (MPIL) 17% and 17%; concentration (CON) 1.009x109 and 1.013x109 spermatozoon/ml; primary abnormalities (AP) 3.8% and 3.4%; secondary abnormalities (AS) 14% and 16%; total abnormalities (AT) 18% and 20% and the induction of the acrosome reaction in vitro (RA) 170% and 178%. It did not find out statistical significant differences between the variables MOT, MPIR, MPIL, AP, AS,AT and RA (P> 0.05). The outputs of the seminal variables, in general, they indicated the great potential of fertility of the bulls Creole CCC and RS.
