Abstract
Determining the plastic properties of the sheets by defining the Forming Limit Curves FLC, for different materials, currently requires to carry out time-consuming and labor-intensive experimental research. In practice, two types of tests are used: out of plane stretching (Nakazima (1968), Hecker (1975)) and in plane stretching (Marciniak – Kuczyński (1967)). Both of them requires a multitude of sample shapes that need to be load and difficult to eliminate friction which has an influence on the result. The presented article is an introduction to the project, which goal is to develop a method for determining the Forming Limit Curves of materials under the biaxial stress state. This target is planned to be achieved by optimizing the shape of the sample subjected to a biaxial-stretching. Thereby determining the Forming Limit Curves for material deformation will be possible by using only one shape of the sample. The standardization of this method will be a significant step in the sheet metal forming and will allow for closer study of the plane stress state phenomenon.
