SPRING HYDROGEOLOGY OF MOUNTAINOUS AREAS OF KŁODZKO REGION ON THE BASIS “ŹRÓDŁO” DATABASE

Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2011, Vol 445, Issue 445

Abstract

A spring database for the Central Sudetes was used for quantitative and qualitative spring hydrology characteristics of some massifs in the Kłodzko region. The main study area covered the Bardzkie, Złote, Bialskie, Bystrzyckie, Orlickie, Stołowe and Krowiarki Mountains and the Śnieżnik Massif. Detailed spring hydrology analysis in areas with the same lithology and climatic conditions shows that the main factors influencing on the spring density index and the amount of periodic springs is the relief and the position in the flow system. The greatest discharge of springs and pH values of groundwater were observed in areas of carbonate rocks which are preferential collectors. Additionally carbonate rocks considerably modify the chemical composition of infiltration and allochthonous water.
