Abstract
The article presents an example of standardization activities in the field of credit intermediation and counseling in Poland, which is adopted by the The Polish Banks Association (ZBP) and the Association of Financial Consulting Firms (ZFDF) recommendation on the best practices for credit counselors in the area of mort-gages in force since 1 September 2014. Article consists of several parts, which shows the plane definitional and credit counseling agency, the size of the industry and credit counseling agency, the reasons for the need to standardize the activi-ties of operators in the sector and the negative effects of the lack of mandatory standardization, European initiatives to regulate the activities of credit intermedi-aries and credit counselors, as well as the recommendation of the ZBP-ZFDF. Arti-cle closes part devoted to the perspectives of standardization activities of brokers and credit counselors in the future.
