Strain measurements using Fiber Bragg Grating sensors in Structural Health Monitoring
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2017, Vol 9, Issue 2
Abstract
The paper presents some results obtained within a project of the “NUCLEU” Program financed by the Ministry of Research and Innovation-ANCS. The project supposes, among others, the design and the realization of a demonstrator for strain and stress measurements made with Fiber Bragg Gratings optical sensors. The paper details the construction of the demonstrator. The strain measurements induced in a cantilevered aluminum plate are compared with the analytical values provided by a mathematical model, and with the numerical values obtained by FEM analysis. The consistency of these comparative data indicates the achievement within the project of a level of competence necessary for later use of FBG sensors in the applicative researches involving the aerospace structures monitoring.

The mix of laws involved in the activity of the companies in the aerospace field
The life of companies, including the aerospace companies, depends on the business cycle. The paper presents the trends of law in ascending and descending period of the business cycle. A point of the paper is the separati...
CFD analysis for road vehicles - case study
This is a case study on the influence of the lower part of road vehicles on the global drag characteristics. Reducing overall drag by redesigning the lower part of the road vehicles has a potential of almost 20% in the o...
Turbulent Boundary Layer at Large Re
The fluids as deformable bodies without own shape, when starting from rest, experience interactions between the flowing fluid and the physical surfaces marking the bounds of flow. These interactions are a kind of impact...
Analysis of entropy production in some enclosed subsystems where spontaneous processes take place
It is well-known that every spontaneous process occurring in an isolated system is accompanied by increasing entropy. The goal of this paper is to show that if the system is made of several subsystems, the entropy produc...
Aerodynamic performance prediction of Darrieus-type wind turbines
The prediction of Darrieus wind turbine aerodynamic performances provides the necessary design and operational data base related to the wind potential. In this sense it provides the type of turbine suitable to the area w...
