Strategic roles for human resource development in central competency management (Theoretical approach)

Abstract

In contract to the industry structure approach that focus on structural factors in the organization environment, the resource- based view emphasizes the importance of the internal factors of the organization represented by its resources and core competencies.This study aims to highlight the importance of the strategic resources and core competencies in creating a sustained competitive advantage for the organization. It also aims to highlight the central relationship between human resources as a fundamental part of the Organization's resources and core competencies by extrapolating the literature of human resources development strategy, thus reaching the most important strategic roles that the human resources function of the Organization can play to manage, develop, protect and sustain those core competencies.
