Studies on developmental variation of isoperoxidase and protein profile of Zea mays L.
Journal Title: Журнал ÑтреÑÑ-физиологии и биохимии - Year 2012, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
The present study was aimed to produce the isoperoxidase and protein marker for the maize cultivars from India and to find the isoperoxidase and protein expression on the various developmental stages. The leaf samples of Zea mays L. were harvested on 3[sup]rd[/sup], 7[sup]th[/sup], 11[sup]th[/sup], 15[sup]th[/sup], 19[sup]th[/sup], 23[sup]rd[/sup] and 27[sup]th[/sup] d for electrophoretic analysis of isoperoxidase and protein. The total protein and isoperoxidase were isolated using the standard procedure described by Sadasivam and Manickam. Isozyme and protein separation was carried out using 10% non-denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The banding pattern suggested several similarities as well as presence of unique isoperoxidase and protein in each stage. These studies will be useful for the identification of the major proteins present at different developmental stages of [i]Z. mays[/i].

Pecularities of Cytokinin Accumulation and Distribution in Triticum aestivum L. Seedlings Under Temperature Stresses
The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of short-term heat (2 h., +40[sup]0[/sup]C) and cold (2 h., +2[sup]0[/sup]C) stresses on accumulation and distribution of cytokinin (CK) in 7 and 14-day-old se...
Effect of Ethanol on Germination and Enzyme Activities in Finger millet (Eleusine coracana Gaertn.) Seeds
Influence of ethanol the end product of alcoholic fermentation on the growth of finger millet (var. GPU-28, CO-9) seedlings of two finger millet was studied as a means of evaluating growth responses under anoxia. The ger...
Does Glycine Betaine and Salicylic Acid Ameliorate the Negative Effect of Drought on Wheat by Regulating Osmotic Adjustment through Solutes Accumulation?
A pot experiment was conducted to evaluate the beneficial effect of foliar application of glycine betaine (10mM), grain presoaking in salicylic acid (0.05 M) and their interaction on drought tolerance of two w...
