STUDY OF ASSOCIATION BETWEEN GLYCATED HAEMOGLOBIN WITH LIPID PARAMETERS IN TYPE-2 DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS IN A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL
Journal Title: IJSR-International Journal Of Scientific Research - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 4
Abstract
Introduction: DCCT has established HbA1C as the gold standard for glycemic control. Early management of dyslipidemia and improvement of glycemic control are helpful in reducing incidence of CVD among T2DM patients. Aim: To evaluate the association between HbA1c and lipid parameters Methods: Among 100 subjects, 50 healthy control and 50 type 2 diabetic mellitus patients included. Fasting blood sample was collected for estimation of lipid profile and HbA1c Results: Total cholesterol, triglyceride and very low density lipoprotein were observed significantly higher in diabetic subject compared to healthy subject. Glycated haemoglobin showed significant positive correlation with total cholesterol triglycerides LDL and fasting blood in diabetic subject Conclusion : HbA1c can be utilized for screening high-risk diabetic patients for timely intervention with lipid lowering drugs.
