STUDY OF CAUSE OF EXPLOSION OF CAPACITORS FOR METAL HALIDE LAMPS

Abstract
Subject of this study is to determine the causes of the explosion of capacitors mounted in boxes of ignition systems for metal halide lamps to illuminate stadium stands. Such explosions occurred several times during few hours of an uninterrupted work of lamps at ambient temperatures above 0°C. Explosions of capacitors have led, among others, to detach box cover and to fire the capacitor and a whole case of ignition threatening the life of fans.
