Study of Meiotic Behavior and Chromosome Number of 3 populations of A. carmanicus of the Astragalus sect. Microphysa Bunge. in Iran

Abstract
in this study chromosome number and Meiotic behavior of 3 Iranian populations of A. carmanicus belonging to A. sect. Microphysa; A. carmanicus 24730, A. carmanicus 23017, and A. carmanicus 22976, is presented. Results from cytogenetics showed the basic chromosome number of x = 8 from ICPN and two ploidy levels (2n = 2x = 16 and 2n = 2x = 32). Two populations was diploid and one population showed tetraploidy .Although the populations displayed regular bivalent pairing and chromosome segregation at meiosis, some meiotic abnormalities observed include varied degrees of fragmented chromosomes, asynchronous nucleus, sticky chromosome, Bridge, micronucleus, binucleus.
