SULF 1 gene polymorphism, rs6990375 is in significant association with fetus failure in IVF technique
Journal Title: International Journal of Reproductive BioMedicine - Year 2015, Vol 13, Issue 4
Abstract
Background: Sulfatase 1 (SULF1) function is to remove the 6-O-sulphate group from heparan sulfate. This action changes the binding sites of extracellular growth factors. SULF1 expression has been reported to be changed in angiogenesis. We hypothesized that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of SULF1 would impact clinicopathologic characteristics. Objective: Study of SULF1 gene polymorphism with fetus failure in in vitro fertilization (IVF) technique. Materials and Methods: We studied one common (minor allele frequency >0.05) regulatory SNP, rs6990375, with polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism method, in 53 infertile women with fetus failure in IVF technique and 53 women with at least one healthy child as controls. Results: We found that rs6990375 is significantly associated with an early failure in IVF and frequency of G allele is high in women with fetus failure in IVF technique (p<0.001). Conclusion: These findings suggest that SULF1genetic variations may play a role in IVF technique fetus failure. Further studies with large sample sizes on SULF1 SNPs may be useful in support of this claim.

Expression of placental growth factor mRNA in preeclampsia
Background: Preeclampsia (PE) is a serious complication of pregnancy with hallmarks of incomplete placentation, placental ischemia and endothelial dysfunction. Imbalance between vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF),...
Valproic acid induces histologic changes and decreases androgen receptor levels of testis and epididymis in rats
Background: Valproic acid (VPA), an anti-epileptic drug, can cause male subfertility. However, the degree to which testicular and epididymal histopathologies and androgen receptor (AR) expression are changed under VPA tr...
Protective effect of green tea extract on the deltamethrin-induced toxicity in mice testis: An experimental study
Background: Deltamethrin (DM) is one of the environmental factors that can have destructive effects on the male fertility. Green tea (GT) as a medicinal herb, has antioxidant property. Objective: The present study invest...
Y chromosome microdeletions frequency in idiopathic azoospermia, oligoasthenozoospermia, and oligospermia
Background: Genetic factors are candidates for about 30% of male infertility with sperm production-related abnormalities. Y chromosome microdeletions are responsible for around 10% of male infertility. These microdeletio...
The prevalence of herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2 infection in Iran: A meta-analysis
Background: Seroepidemiologic studies indicate a high prevalence of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection. This infection leads to ophthalmic, dermatologic, oral, neurologic, vaginal and cervical problems. Different studi...
