Survival among Dually Infected HIV Patients Compared to HIV-1 Mono-Infected Patients Receiving ART in Senegal: A Twelve-Year Cohort Study

Journal Title: International Journal of Virology and AIDS - Year 2016, Vol 3, Issue 1

Abstract

In West Africa, HIV-2 single infection (HIV-2s) and HIV-1 + HIV-2 dual infection (HIV-D) remain endemic but their morbidity is progressively decreasing. Among HIV-D infected patients receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART), data on mortality are very scarce. The purpose of this analysis was to compare survival of HIV-D infected with that of HIV-1 singly infected (HIV-1s) patients over twelve years of follow up after ART initiation.
