SWOT Analysis in the Sector of Defense of Czech Republic – Current State and Recommendation for Application

Abstract
The article presents the partial results and findings of a questionnaire survey and half-structured interviews focused on one selected area of problem solving in the Department of Defence. The object of the research conducted in 2012 and 2015 are the methods, methodologies and heuristics of problem solving. The SWOT analysis, one of the methods of strategical analysis, has been analysed in the article. In the first instance, based on the findings of the literature review, the SWOT analysis is characterized in the light of its practical implementation. The possible use of SWOT analysis in the Department of Defence follows. The recommendations for practical application of SWOT analysis in the department have been formulated based on the information obtained.
