Symbolic and motivational reconstruction of English and Ukrainian etno-cultural stereotypes about patriotism

Abstract
The symbolic and motivational reconstruction of English and Ukrainian ethnic and cultural autostereotypes about their national character are carried out. The stereotypes about the English and Ukrainian homeland, home, native country, foreigners are reconstructed on the idiomatic examples by the disclosing internal and external forms and ¿ gurative meanings of phraseological stock of the both languages. As the result of such reconstruction, the stereotypical portrait of English and Ukrainain patriotism as their feature of character is designed. By rebuilding ethnocultural stereotypes of English and Ukrainian patriotism, recorded in the ¿ gurative semantics of idioms, it was assumed that phraseological thesaurus of English and Ukrainian languages reÀ ects the outlook features of these languages due to the national mentality. The analysis of ethno-cultural symbolic meanings and sources of English and Ukrainian national character formation makes it possible to state that their motivation is the basis of social, cultural, historical and religious factors that inÀ uenced the mental and stereotyping perceptions of British and Ukrainian patriotism
