SYNCHRONIZATION OF OVULATION AND ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION IN BUFFALES AT FIXED TIME

Journal Title: Revista MVZ Cordoba - Year 2004, Vol 9, Issue 2

Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaluate the efficiency in the induction and synchronization of the ovulation in buffaloes as opposed to the use of two treatments, considering for it the Conception Rate (CR). Two homogenous groups of 18 animals were satisfied Later, it was assigned at random to each group one of the following treatments: Group iI: intramuscular injection of 2 mililiter of saline solution (day -12). Group I: intramuscular injection of 150 mg of PGF2a (day -12). After this the animals of the 2 groups received treatment by the «Ovsynch» method (GnRH/ PGF2a/GnRH): intramuscular injection of 50 mg of synthetic GnRH (day 0). inside muscle injection 150 mg of PGF2a, (day 7). intramuscular injection of 50 mg of synthetic GnRH (day 9). All the animals received artificial insemination time fixed (AITF) 16 hours after the last injection of GnRH. The diagnose of conception by rectal palpation was made 50 days after the AITF. The total CR in buffaloes was of 55.6%. The CR for the animals of Group II was of 44,4 % and for the animals of Group I > was of 66,7 %. both had not statistically significant differences between the conception rates obtained with treatments (p 0.05). However, a numerical difference of 22 points was observed that favors to buffaloes of Group I, being able future studies to suggest the increase of the number of animals by treatment.
