SYNOVIAL CYST OF LUMBAR FACET JOINT THE ROLE OF ENDOSCOPIC TREATMENTCASE REPORT
Journal Title: Journal of Turkish Spinal Surgery - Year 2007, Vol 18, Issue 4
Abstract
Vertebral synovial cysts are benign lesions located at lomber region that originate from degenerative facet joints. As they can be the cause of neurogenic claudication, back pain and radiculopathy, they frequently need treatment. In cases causing mild symptoms, conservative treatment options, percutaneous aspiration or steroid injections to facet joints may be helpful. In symptomatic cases, laminectomy or facetectomy can be performed. In recent years, minimal invasive treatment options have been popularized in order to avoid the complications of these techniques. In this case report, result of the excision with endoscopic laminatomy of a synovial cyst was discussed.
