Sytuacje meteorotropowe w Rzeszowie (The meteotropic situations in Rzeszów)

Journal Title: Acta Geographica Lodziensia - Year 2016, Vol 104, Issue

Abstract

The main objective of the paper is to determine the variability in the occurrence of meteotropic situations in Rzeszów, in the years 2001–2012. An assessment of the bioclimate of Rzeszów was performed according to the analysis of the selected meteotropic situations, including cyclonic situations, atmospheric fronts, storms and dry winds, such as the Foehn. The calendar with the circulation types (Niedźwiedź 2013), the database from meteorological station Rzeszów-Jasionka and questionnaire surveys were used in this thesis. The study took into account the characteristic days, such as frosty days (tmax < 0°C), very hot days (tmax > 30°C), heat waves, sultry days, hot nights (tmin ≥ 20°C), days with a daily amplitude of air temperature greater than 12°C (tmax–tmin > 12°C), days with more than a 6°C change in air temperature from the previous day (Δtśr > 6°C), days with inso-lation deficit and days with high fluctuations of air pressure. The research indicated that the most meteotropic season of the year in Rzeszów is summer, due to its very adverse thermal-moisture conditions. During the warm half of the year, the weather is influenced by cyclonic situations, moving fronts and frequently occurring storms. The study also presents the results of the qu-estionnaire, which confirms that the most meteotropic season of the year is summer (June, July and August).
