Tastir in Arabic Poetry of the Ottoman Period

Abstract

The most important issue which attracts notice in Arabic Poetry of the Ottoman Period is the use badi arts immensely. The poets have given the famous badi arts in the former periods a place in their poems. On the other hand they have improved new arts and they have made a contribution to Arabic Literature. In this article the issue of tastir in Arabic poem is handled from different viewpoints. Firstly, the usage of the tastir in classical poetry and in its sources is mentioned, and then, the conceptual meaning of tastir in Arabic Poetry of the Ottoman Period is discussed. After that the techniques which had used by poets in their poetries is indicated. Separately, the positive and adverse effects of tastir in the meaning of poetries is regarded. And lastly, the tastir is compared with some arts like tadmin and muarada.
