The article describes the structural and semantic features of the terminological units in the book «Why Nations Fail» by D. Acemoglu and J. A. Robinson. The phenomenon of documentary literature, its features, genre diversity and functions are investigated. The book «Why Nations Fail» by D. Acemoglu and J. A. Robinson is characterized as non-fiction, its peculiar features are identified. It has been found out that the book performs the informative, aesthetic, gnoseological and analytical functions. The authors have composed the corpus of the English terminological units based on the book. The structural peculiarities of the composed corpus of terms are investigated. Six derivational types of terminological units are singled out. The study shows the domination of multicomponent terms, which are analyzed according to the models of their formation. General scientific, special scientific and interdisciplinary terminological units are identified. The linguistic analysis of the composed corpus shows the thematic diversity of terminological units, with the prevalence of interdisciplinary socio-political terms. Socio-political terminological units are classified into 15 lexical and thematic groups. Socio-economic and political and legal lexical units prevail in the corpus. The prospects for further research are the study of lexico-semantic processes of synonymy, antonymy, polysemy, homonymy and metaphorization of terms as well as the functional features of terminological units in the documentary literature.
