TERMINOLOGY SYSTEM OF GEOINFORMATICS AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: EXPERIENCE AND CHALLENGES OF THE RESEARCH

Abstract
The article deals with the analysis of the developing terminology systems of geoinformatics and sustainable development and consideration of the interdisciplinary relations of the studied sublanguages. Some approaches to the definition and differentiation of the terms in the language system have been considered, the notions of “terminology” and “terminology system” have been differentiated. Special attention has been given to the phenomenon of intersystem borrowing of the terms as one of the key factors of contemporary terminology systems development. The authors illustrate the article with the examples taken from the studied terminology systems. They also briefly represent the result of the lexicographic research done in the process of cooperation of the Faculty of Linguistics Igor Sikorsky KPI and World Data Center for Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development
