TESTING THE RESISTANCE OF 120X570 TANK AMMUNITION AGAINST SINUSOIDAL VIBRATIONS

Abstract

The article deals with an issue concerning the simulation of vibrations based on a laboratory system for testing ammunition resistance against mechanical stresses. These tests check the limits for which the sample can resist the devastating effects of vibrations and preserve the functional effectiveness and parameters after the trial. The issue concerning the simulation of vibrations depends on many different factors starting from the laws of physics behind the system operation and design, through the role of its particular components and ending on ways for avoiding and preventing undesired phenomena occurring at preparation and during the test. Laboratory tests described in the paper were carried out on 120 mm sabot shell cartridges that were subjected to sinusoidal vibrations in three axes to be tested later by firing on the proving range.<br/><br/>
