THE 37TH SEPARATE MOTORIZED PONTOON-BRIDGE BATTALION IN FIGHTS FOR A BRIDGEHEAD AND A CROSING OVER THE KUBAN AT THE VILLAGE OF NOVOMIKHAYLOVSKOE IN AUGUST 1942

Abstract
The 37th separate motorized pontoon-bridge battalion (SMPBB) carried out engineering reconnaissance of the floodplain of the Kuban in the area from the village of Temizhbegskaya to the village of Novomikhailovskoe. During the battles, the battalion provided the crossing of the Soviet troops across the Dniester, the Bug and the Dnieper. On the Dnieper, in the area of Tsyurupinsk and Golaya quay, the 1st company of the 37th SMPBB dismantled and flooded the vessels of the Dnieper river fleet. Then there were heavy battles on the southern face of the Soviet-German front, where the battalion erected crossings on the Northern Donets and the Don rivers (at Razdorskaya station), after which the 37th SMPBB retreated to a large bend of the Kuban. The article discusses the process of preparing for battles and the battles of the 37th SMPBB for crossing over the Kuban at Novomikhaylovskoe, Gulkevichi District.
