Abstract
the 40th SMSB played an important role in the first stage of Armavir’s defense by not allowing the Nazis to seize the strategically important crossing at stanitsa Prochnookop-skaya (North of Armavir) and create a potentially dangerous bridgehead on the Western coast of the Kuban. A biography of N.F. Tseplyaev is connected with the participation of the 40th SMSB in the battles for Armavir. The military way of N.F. Tseplyaev began in 1912, when he was drafted into the army. He served as a private in the 2nd Artillery Battery of the 3rd Caucasian Corps. N.F. Tseplyaev met the First World War in the ranks of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment of the 21st Cavalry Brigade on the South-Western Front. By the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Nikita Fedorovich Tseplyaev had the First World War, the Great October Revolution of 1917 and the Civil War under his belt
