The applicability of Bolton's tooth size ratios to Chhattisgarh population in India
Journal Title: IP Indian Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Research - Year 2018, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Objective The present study was undertaken to assess whether Boltons ratio can be applied to Chattisgarhi population and if values obtained are significantly different from that of Boltons established values then to establish Boltons standards for the Chhattisgarhi population and also to determine if sexual dimorphism exists in overall and anterior ratiosStudy Design 120 subjects 60 male and 60 female between 1725 years of age having normal occlusion were selected Boltons anterior and overall ratio was calculated on study models and values obtained were statistically analyzed for coefficient of variation standard deviation and mean values This data was compared with standard Boltons valuesResults The combined anterior and overall ratios of Chhattisgarhi population did not differ significantly from that of Boltons sample however significant sexual dimorphism was noted both in anterior and overall ratios among males and females Conclusion Boltons anterior and overall tooth size ratios can be applied to Chhattisgarhi populationKeywords Bolton ratio Chhattisgarhi population

Prediction and incidence of unfavourably angulated canines using Orthopantomograms
Introduction: This study was designed to find the incidence of unfavorably angulated canines using angular measurements on orthopantomograms described by war ford et al and extended it even to mandible. Methods: Sample o...
Microbial colonisation on elastomeric modules during orthodontic treatment - an in vivo study
Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the presence or absence of Streptococcus Mutans and Lactobacilli from the elastomeric modules and to study its extent at different intervals of time during orthodontic trea...
Comparison of mechanical properties of three orthodontic wires between levelled and unlevelled brackets: An in vitro study
Background: The objective of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of three orthodontic wires between levelled and unlevelled bracket using a three-point bending test. Methods: Three groups of ten Nickel ti...
Comparative assessment of changes in sagittal relationship of maxilla to mandible in class II malocclusion – a cephalometric study
A number of analyses have been done over the years with varying degrees of reliability and success in assessing the anterior-posterior jaw relationships of the jaw bases. These analyses have both advantages and inaccurac...
Comparative evaluation of stress related changes in the periodontium during conventional and rapid canine retraction – a finite element study
Assessment of stress related changes in the periodontium is of prime importance while applying forces of differential magnitude. A detailed knowledge of these stresses in the biological systems provides an insight on the...
