Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze the main theoretical approaches to the definition of the concept „linguistic picture of the world”. The answer to the question Does language reflect the world, create the world, interpret the world is of the fundamental importance in the research of the linguistic picture of the world. The analysis of the linguistic picture of the world is one of the most important problems, which will remain urgent in the future, taking into account the tendencies of contemporary linguistic investigations and changes in the methodology. The usage of the theory of the linguistic picture of the world in the research of the literary texts will allow to single out the elements of the idiolect which are common in the national language as well as those which are different in order to indicate cultural conditionality of a particular idiolect, reproduce well-established hierarchy of values in the writer’s language and his peculiar vision of the world through the fragments of language of the nonverbal reality. Despite the fact that there is a large amount of publications on this topic, the question of the methodology of comparative research of the writers’ linguistic picture who wrote their literary works in two or even more languages has not received all the attention it deserves. That is why it should be the subject of the subsequent investigations.
