Journal Title: Journal of the Human and Social Science Researches - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
Akkoyunlu and Karakoyunlu states were two ruler Turkmen states of the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia in 14th and 15th century including territories of today’s Iran. These two states had revealed variety of high quality works of book arts in Bagdad, Shiraz and Tabriz, when states’ borders were quite transitive. Although works of book arts in the time of Akkoyunlu and Karakoyunlu have been defined as unique contributions to the art style, their architecture has been understudied. This study examines ornamental works in two states’ architecture, which are available today in their original versions, to discuss whether there was a unique style of ornament or not. In addition to that Turkmen style in book arts is also studied in detail.
