The boundaries of linguistic interpretation in the research on nonverbal communication
Journal Title: Biuletyn Polskiego Towarzystwa Językoznawczego - Year 2016, Vol 0, Issue 72
Abstract
The article shows the boundaries of linguistic reflection on nonverbal communication, which are situated between two different ways of describing communication phenomena: reporting actions in terms of general language vocabulary and giving specialist descriptions with the use of specially designed terminology. The problem is discussed with reference to some aspects of the specialist research on pointing and showing. The author also compares this research output with her own analysis of Polish verbs with the morphemes wskaz- and pokaz-.
